A Snapshot of Two Cities #2

Mmm, dumplings. Man, now I have a craving for some steamed vegetarian dumplings with lashings of soy sauce! So good. Food is such an integral part of culture, hey? Looks like you had heaps of fun learning to make dumplings, Isabel!

I reckon I spent a good 20 minutes wandering around our garden, trying to catch a glimpse of something I thought was worthy of sharing with everyone else. In the end, I settled for crouching close to the ground and taking this shot because a) it reminds me of a chilly, Melbourne evening before it’s got too dark and b) everything smelt like jon quills so I figured they needed to be represented.

A Snapshot of Two Cities is a collaborative project between myself and Isabel from Nanjing Nian. We take a photo of something that catches our eye each week and post the photos on our blogs. We hope you enjoy looking at the differences and similarities between the two cities and cultures, and also just some pretty pictures. You can read more about it in the first posting.

What a beautiful garden you have, Jacquie. I love the winter light in your photo…looks so cold at 16.57! x

Why thank you, Isabel. I would take the credit for it but alas, it was my sister that planted these I think. It was quite chilly out there at that time – it’s that point in the evening when the temperature just drops! x

Haha yes, they are a lovely bunch of flowers. They had a big, heady smell to them that was quite intoxicating as I sat there trying to frame the shot. Don’t the dumplings just look delicious?? I could really go some now…thanks for your comment, Catherine! 🙂
